Kay Lynch
Soprano, Kay Lynch, is a Communications graduate from Dublin City University. She is also an honours music graduate from The Open University and
holds a Professional Performer’s Diploma from The Guildhall School of Music in London. She studied vocal technique with Dr. Veronica Dunne at The Leinster Opera Studio and with esteemed tutors in London (Lillian Watson), Zurich (Veronica Scully) and Sydney (Ron McConaghie – Sydney Conservatory).
Kay has won prizes at all the major feiseanna in Ireland in a variety of genres – Oratorio, Opera, Operetta/Music Theatre and Lieder. She was twice recipient of the Shannon Development Vocal Bursary. From 1996-2001, Kay was lead-singer with Riverdance.
She toured extensively with the group and during her time as lead vocalist, the show premiered in Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Germany, France and Scandinavia. She also sang the lead in Riverdance’s homecoming run in The Point in summer 2000. Before Riverdance, Kay was soloist with The Bunratty Singers for two years. In 1995/1996, she sang with The National Chamber Choir, Opera Ireland, at The RTE Proms and more recently was a featured soloist with Lyric Opera.
Kay has made numerous solo television and radio appearances on shows such as The Late Late Show, Open House, Theatre Nights and The Rose of Tralee. An experienced recording artist Kay’s solo album “Unconditional” blends classical style vocals with modern dance beats.
Recent solo roles have included, The title-role in Opera South-West’s production of The Merry Widow, the role of Adele in Die Fledermaus with the same company and the Soprano solo role in a performance of Haydn’s “The Creation”.
